New York-based cybersecurity startup Hypr-3 has launched pre-orders for a biometric mobile wallet solution which incorporates a Bluetooth “bio-sticker” fingerprint scanner that can be attached to mobile phones and access to its payment platform.
Costing $20 and shipping in June, Hypr-3 says its solution offers dynamic tokenization security and supports bitcoin, credit, and debit cards, as well as any 3rd party digital wallet that has integrated with the firm’s API.
After users scan a credit card and add it to the HYPR-3 App, they simply need to tap an NFC reader and pay via credit card. Their card number is then biometrically secured and tokenized, preventing it from ever being transmitted in plain text.
“Your fingerprint never leaves the sticker, and is used to encrypt the credit card information. … HYPR-3 does not require merchant-side integration and will work at any credit card NFC terminal,” writes the firm.
The company’s “bio-sticker” is 3.2mm thin, carries over a year of battery life, and communicates via low energy bluetooth. The sticker can secure multiple devices, and can be attached to phones, phone cases, or worn as a keychain.
