UK consumers will be able to make contactless donations to the Comic Relief charity this year – through posters of comedians.
Shoppers across the country will be able to donate via contactless right up until the Red Nose Day telethon in March, which sees a host of UK celebrities taking part in comedic activities to help raise money to tackle poverty.
In order to make a donation, consumers must tap their contactless cards against large posters of comedians that will appear in shopping centres in the build up to the event. A £1 donation will be made each time a shopper taps their card against the comedian’s pocket.
The charity has partnered with Barclays to launch the campaign, which will also allow the consumer to donate via the Barclays Pingit app.
